Northwestern University
hosts the ANSER Center solar energy research laboratory.

CASE
is a research center designed to push the boundaries of environmental performance in urban building systems, cosponsored by
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, and
Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in Chicago, IL.
Rensselaer is building its School of Architecture's advanced degree program in Built Ecologies around the CASE.

University of Minnesota
hosts the Center for Sustainable Building Research,
which performs research on guidelines and rating systems, housing, life cycle assessment, and windows and glazings.
Location: Minneapolis, MN.
Cornell University
hosts the Center for a Sustainable Future,
which promotes multidisciplinary research on energy, environment and economic development. Cornell also has highly rated
bachelor and masters architecture programs.
Location: Ithaca, NY.
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and
UC Berkeley
host the Helios Solar Energy Research Center,
which conducts research on ways to store solar energy in the form of renewable transportation fuel. (It is part of three Helios
centers dedicated to producing synthetic fuels.)

University of Central Florida
hosts the Florida Solar Energy Center,
conducts research, testing and certification of solar systems, and serves as Florida's energy research institute.

Arizona State University
hosts the Global Institute of Sustainability,
conducts research, education, and problem-solving related to sustainability, with a special focus on urban environments.

Renssealer Polytechnic Institute
hosts the Smart Lighting Engineering Research Center,
which conducts research into the efficient production of light through LEDs.

University of North Carolina
hosts the Solar Energy Research Center,
which looks for sustainable energy in solar fuels produced by artificial photosynthesis and next-generation organic
or hybrid photovoltaics.

The Berlage Institute
offers The City as a Project PhD program for 2009-2010
in conjunction with TU Delft.

offers an MBA in Sustainable Enterprise (Green MBA).
